Our challenge was not only to help rebrand and refresh the restaurant, but to create a space where the Italian menu lived happily in a tropical setting. We took our inspiration from the island of Capri on Italy’s Amalfi coast.
When you think of Capri, you think of crystal blue sea, wide open blue sky and fresh air. We began by covering the walls in a silvery hue to emulate the inside of a pearl oyster. The existing banquettes were covered in a velvety, ombre textured fabric referencing the water. To take the focus away from the existing stone floors, we distracted the eye with ombre drapes. Sea urchin lights line the walls, and the outdated fixtures have been replaced with brass and blue glass sconces.
Hanging exterior lighting off the patio helps illuminate a beautiful, meandering muliwai, or waterway. The teak dining tables and chairs outsde allow diners to take advantage of the garden and ocean views.
