Off the Track in NYC’s Flower District

Posted September 24, 2010 | Categories: Misc., Travel

There’s nothing like seeing palettes of fresh flowers – orchids, summer grasses, hydrangea, and sunflowers – on a cool autumn afternoon in New York City to get you excited. Our designer, Marion Philpotts-Miller, found that out when she visited the city recently to install her daughter in college.

“Going there was an alternative to having a late hotel check out,” says Marion of her off-the-beaten-path visit. “The New York flower district is run by designers and you can’t beat the prices if you are open to funky and worn.”

She walked away with a modern square vase filled with white hydrangeas and garden roses that would have cost a spendy $100 at any uptown florist for just $22. The flower district is located at 105 West 28 Street, between 7th and 8th.
