Philpotts Interiors is honored to announce our senior designer Holly Boling Ruiz was nominated by Theremador’s top dealers in Hawaii and the Pacific Rim to participate in Thermador’s special Design Council that was formed just three years ago. This council gives their input and recommendations on Thermador’s new product designs and brand. The design counsel includes industry leaders from America, Germany and Turkey. Thermador has named 2013 the “Year of the Designer”.
The council took two-and-a-half days of intense brainstorming to review prototypes and design ideas for their 2015-2016 products. Council members were asked to comment on all design and parts of their appliances. You may view the profile of the council members at Thermador’s website.
Two of our designers, Anne Tanaka and Dawn Ching, recently attended the ReGreen conference in San Francisco sponsored by ASID & USGBC. While at the ReGreen conference, they discovered new sustainable products and learned of eye opening facts regarding green friendly products.
For example, the average person spends one third of their day in bed. Did you know that there are healthier alternatives to your mattress selection?
Check out some websites below that offer environmentally conscious mattress and bedding options:

• Nature Pedic http://www.naturepedic.com
• Life Kind http://www.lifekind.com
• Coyuchi http://www.coyuchi.com
You can learn more about the ReGreen approach by checking out the ASID / USGBC ReGreen website’s “Green Strategy Generator”. Visit http://www.regreenprogram.org/resources and click on the “Green Strategy Generator” image on the left side of the page. This website is a wonderful tool for homeowners and designers to discover ways to achieve a more sustainable, healthy, residential project.

Turning a dark interior into a brighter space, this custom designed image was added to a lit mirror in the Hilton Hawaiian Village’s Alii Lobby to mimic the presence of a window in a fully urbanized space. Last minute changes allowed for this quick solution of applying etched film, rather than a traditional etched mirror, which was beyond the budget and time frame of the project.
It was impossible to resist visiting Madeine Weinrib’s new location at 126 5th Avenue.

There’s nothing like seeing something first hand!
In an age of virtual shopping, where anything can be had and found on the internet, First Dibs is in fact a real showroom in NYC. There is no replacement for seeing something through one’s own eyes. The real deal is seeing the 3-Dimensional quality and character of a piece live, to one’s own naked eye.
These often vintage pieces each have their own patina and tell their own stories. You’ll have to see it to believe it… and buy it.
There’s no fear of purchase at the First Dibs Showroom in NYC!
