History

Founder Mary Philpotts McGrath began her design business from a storefront in Honolulu in the 1960s. Her goal was to give the newly constructed buildings and residences that were springing up everywhere "a sense of place." This meant reinterpreting the culture and color of Hawaii into this new, changing environment.

Marion Philpotts Miller and Jonathan Staub joined the highly successful firm several years ago, while maintaining the boutique interior design company, Your Space, Inc., they founded in San Francisco. Their focus at both locations has been to infuse a fresh, modern energy into the design work, and to look beyond the islands to the mainland U.S., Asia and the Pacific for their projects.
